A Victory for Harvey's Memory
Congratulations to all members of the International Court System that worked so hard getting letters of support for this project.
YOU made this happen. Well done team ICS.
We Support the USS Harvey Milk!!
The International Court Council is proud to co-sponsor the drive to name a U.S. Navy Ship after Navy Dive Officer and US Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Harvey Milk. The council is joined by the GLBT Historic Task Force of San Diego and the Harvey Milk Foundation.
The skills, leadership and courage that Harvey Milk learned and reinforced during his service in the US Navy during the Korean War were key to his later service as a Civil Rights leader.
When he was assassinated Harvey Milk was wearing his US Navy Master Diver belt buckle. He earned it during his four years of Honorable Service in the US Navy, and was one of the achievements he was most proud of. The blood stained shirt, shoes and belt buckle are on display at the Historical Society.
